Gazprom to work within limits of gas prices set by government

The president and the government are discussing how to reduce the growth of prices on products of natural monopolies

MOSCOW, June 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s gas giant Gazprom will work within the limits of gas prices approved by the government, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller told shareholders on Friday.

“We work in compliance with the principle of state price formation,” he said.

Earlier Gazprom’s chief financial officer Andrei Kruglov said the prices for the population are by 25 percent lower than those for industrial consumers.

The president and the government are discussing how to reduce the growth of prices on products of natural monopolies.

Gazprom noted that reduction of the price growth rates from 15 percent to the inflation rate (around 7 percent) will result in losses of 130 billion roubles within two upcoming years.
