Police officer serious wounded by unidentified assaulter in Dagestan’s Khasavyurt

A criminal case was opened on charges of assaulting a policemen and of illegal possession of arms and munitions

MAKHACHKALA, February 12 (Itar-Tass) – A police officer has been seriously wounded by unidentified assaulters in the town of Khasavyurt in Russia’s North Caucasian republic of Dagestan, a spokesman for the republican department of the Russian Investigations Committee told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

According to the spokesman, the incident took place at about 20:40 Moscow time on Tuesday. An unidentified person opened gunfire at the police officer when he was parking his car near his house. The officer was hospitalized with serious wounds.

A criminal case was opened on charges of assaulting a policemen and of illegal possession of arms and munitions.

Another incident was reported from Dagestan’s city of Derbent on Tuesday. At 21:30 Moscow time, a home-made explosive device went off under the bottom of a car owned by a former policeman. The man was hospitalized with serious wounds. According to preliminary data, the bomb was activated via a remote control device. An investigation is underway.
