State policy on innovations to be dscussed at SPIEF

Russian Venture Company (RVC) will act as a session co-organizer

Business session 'State Support as an Effective Tool for Securing Leadership in Innovation' will take place as part of the SPIEF business programme theme 'Harnessing Russia’s Growth Potential'. Russian Venture Company (RVC) will act as a session co-organizer. The event participants will discuss state support tools for hi-tech production facilities, measures to eliminate the barriers for innovative business development as well as prospects of international cooperation in innovations.

Alexander Povalko, General Director of RVC, emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to the innovation industry management: “In many ways, technological development shapes the structure and nature of global markets. Economic competitiveness and progress vector depend on our ability to effectively use the technological potential of our country. For this reason, it is crucial, relying on international best practices and local experience, to define the main outlines of state policy on supporting innovations and developing new competences and knowledge, and to build an efficient system for managing scientific research and technological development. These high-priority topics will be a focus of the Forum business programme.”

Innovation-driven development is one of the main topics of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum programme. Every year, discussions within this theme block attract key industry players including investors, start-up entrepreneurs, researchers, and experts.

The discussion is highly relevant due to the need to increase global competitiveness, which is impossible without leadership in innovative technologies, clarified Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation: “The leading countries are focused on the development of a new innovative economy. They are actively involved in exchange of technologies as well as material and intellectual capital. The state that supports innovations and creates conditions to attract resources and develop the innovative sector has a significant advantage in this competitive environment.”
