Lavrov vows Moscow will support Tajikistan’s CIS chairmanship

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Russia will support Tajikistan’s chairmanship in the CIS in every way and plans to coordinate with Dushanbe its actions in other international structures, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the beginning of a meeting with Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirodzhidin Aslov.

"Our relations are firmly based on strategic partnership and alliance," the Russian foreign minister said. "This can be seen both in our bilateral ties and in cooperation within international organizations, chiefly the CSTO, CIS and the SCO. And, of course, Tajikistan’s chairmanship in the CIS this year opens additional prospects for our common efforts to consolidate the Commonwealth as an important regional international venue."

"We will help Dushanbe in every possible way to perform the functions of the CIS chairman and continue our close coordination in all other international structures," Lavrov added.
