Putin and Macron hash over French leader’s upcoming visit to Russia

Macron is scheduled to visit Russia on May 24-25

MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the Elysee Palace occupant’s upcoming visit to Russia in May during their phone call.

"Vital issues in Russian-French relations were discussed in light of Macron’s upcoming visit to Russia in May," the Kremlin press service reported.

The phone call was made at the initiative of the French side.

Earlier reports noted that Macron is scheduled to visit Russia on May 24-25. He is planning to take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) as an honored guest.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will take place on May 24-26. Several meetings between Russian and foreign entrepreneurs have been planned within the framework of the forum. Delegations from France, Japan, Switzerland and Qatar have signed up to attend SPIEF. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe accepted Russia’s invitation. Major corporations from the US, Saudi Arabia and other countries are also scheduled to participate.
