Putin always calls for maximum transparent elections - Kremlin

"What President Putin constantly demands is transparency of elections, either it is a single voting day taking place in September or parliamentary elections, or presidential elections," Peskov said

MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin always demands that elections should be absolutely clear and transparent, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a televised interview with the Mir channel on Saturday.

"What President Putin constantly demands is transparency of elections, either it is a single voting day taking place in September or parliamentary elections, or presidential elections," Peskov said. "As a head of state, Putin always stands up for absolutely clear and transparent elections."

"In his opinion, there should not be a different atmosphere, that is an atmosphere without any competitiveness," he added.

"Moreover, he does not need it since he is a candidate with very strong positions," the presidential spokesman said.

Peskov pointed out that only solid facts substantiated by a court’s ruling could be called "violations."

"There are lots of those willing to trumpet about some ballot rigging, ballot-stuffing, carousel voting and so on. However, when they are told that under the law, they should report any fact to law enforcement agencies, many voices run into the sand," he said.
