Sergey Lavrov and Antonio Guterres have discussed the process of reforming the United Nations

MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres have discussed the process of reforming the United Nations, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.

"They exchanged views on the UN reform process initiated by Guterres, expressing the common view on the need to reach balanced agreements relying on the broad consensus by all major groups of the organization’s member-countries," the ministry said.

Guterres has said on numerous occasions that only a reformed UN can be the engine of the international community. He also expressed the view that the organization’s success strategy should be based on the simplification, decentralization, greater flexibility and the culture of transparency and responsibility.
