MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. The supplies of lethal arms from Canada to Ukraine may shift the balance of power in the conflict-hit east, de-facto making Canada a party to the internal conflict, Russian senator Frants Klintsevich told reporters.
"In my opinion, the Canadian government still does not fully realize the consequences of officially approving the supplies of lethal weapons to Kiev. It is possible that those supplies shift the balance of the opposing parties in Donbass - which is exactly what they are aimed at - but there is another aspect in this. A very dangerous precedent is being created. In fact, Canada is becoming a party to the domestic Ukrainian conflict with all due consequences," he said.
"To call things as they are, Canada has made a direct move against the Minsk agreement," Klintsevich’s press service quoted him as saying.
The Canadian government’s official paper, Canada Gazette, earlier reported that the government has included Ukraine into the list of countries to which Canadian defense contractors are authorized to sell weapons. Currently, there are 39 nations on the list, most of them NATO members.
