Senior Russian diplomat, EU envoy discuss Iran nuclear deal

On July 14, 2015, Iran and the P5+1 reached an agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program

MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and EU Ambassador to Russia Markus Ederer have discussed the implementation of the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Tuesday.

"During the meeting, [the two sides] discussed the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program along with some other pressing international issues," the ministry said.

On July 14, 2015, Iran and the P5+1 (five permanent UN Security Council members - Russia, the UK, China, the US and France - plus Germany) reached an agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program. The plan envisages lifting the sanctions imposed on Iran by the UN and the European Union over its nuclear activities in return for Tehran’s pledge to scale back its nuclear program and place it under international control. On January 16, 2016, it was announced that the implementation of the deal had begun.
