Russian Security Council head to visit Brazil, Argentina

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev Nikolai Patrushev will have consultations on the international security

MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev on December 4-6 will visit Brazil and Argentina, the authority’s press service said on Saturday.

"In Brasilia and in Buenos Aires, Nikolai Patrushev will have consultations on the international security, as well as on bilateral Russia-Brazil and Russia-Argentina cooperation in national security and on cooperation between law enforcement and intelligence agencies," the press service said.

During the previous visit to Argentina on December 11, 2005, Patrushev was received by President Mauricio Macri, the press service continued. "The parties confirmed the aspirations for further development of the Russia-Argentina cooperation."

In 2016 and 2017, on sidelines of the Security Council’s events in Grozny and in Tver, Patrushev had talks with Argentina’s Secretary of Strategic Affairs Fulvio Pompeo.

"Patrushev also supports ongoing contacts with Sergio Etchegoyen, Brazil's minister of institutional security," the press service continued. "On July 28, 2017, in Beijing, Patrushev and Etchegoyen participated in the seventh annual meeting of BRICS countries’ High Representatives for Security Issues.".
