Over 3,300 Syrian receive Russian humanitarian aid in past day

The overall weight of humanitarian cargoes was three tonnes

MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. The Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria organized seven humanitarian operations during the past day to deliver relief aid to more than 3,300 people.

"During the day, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties conducted seven humanitarian operations in the provinces of Aleppo and al-Qunietra. A total of 3,350 people received humanitarian assistance. The overall weight of humanitarian cargoes was three tonnes," the center said in its regular daily bulletin on Thursday.

According to the bulletin, 3,000 hot meals and bread were distributed among civilians in Aleppo’s districts of Al Azamiya, Sheikh Tahan, Karm al-Maz, Jamliliya, Sheikh Maksoud and Al-Solhina. A total of 350 food packages were distributed among residents of the settlement of Ajuba in the al-Quneitra province.

A total of 21 tonnes of food products received by the Syrian authorities from the United Nations were dropped from Russian warplanes to the city of Der ez-Zor besieged by Islamic State militants.

Apart from that, officers of the Russian reconciliation center helped to dispatch two humanitarian convoys with UN cargoes to the settlement of Bloudan in the province of Damascus and Telbisa in the province of Homs.

The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23, 2016. It is headquartered at the Hmeimim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
