Senator says Russia sent nearly 1,500 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Syria in 2016-2017

The supplies were delivered to 310 Syrian settlements, including Aleppo

MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Russia’s supplies of humanitarian assistance to Syria in 2016-2017 reached almost 1,500 tonnes, Konstantin Kosachev, head of Russia’s Federation Council (upper house of parliament) International Affairs Committee, said.

"In general, nearly 1,500 tonnes of humanitarian cargos were delivered from Russia to Syria during the acute phase of conflict there in 2016 and 2017," Kosachev said during a TV linkup titled "Syria's Peaceful Future: A View from Moscow and Paris."

The supplies were delivered to 310 Syrian settlements, including Aleppo. "As of March 20, 607 tonnes of humanitarian cargos were sent to Aleppo from Russia," the senator said.
