GENEVA, March 4. /TASS/. Russia cannot see how the Syrian opposition could be united on the position of the High Negotiations Committee, Russia's Ambassador to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva Alexei Borodavkin said on Saturday.
"The Russian side at all stages of the negotiations insisted the opposition's delegation should be united," he said. "But uniting should be made not only the radical inquiries of the Riyadh group, but on the thorough, constructive and aimed at compromise position."
Speaking about future, head of the Russian mission stressed it necessary to have as members of future rounds the Astana Group, and other representatives of the Syrian moderate opposition, as well as the Kurds.
"We shall only hail if it becomes possible to make closer those groups and the Riyadh delegation," the diplomat continued. "But it is not that the Riyadh delegation acquires those groups, but that they have a common constructive position at talks."
In that case it would favor progress at the negotiations, he said in conclusion.
