Over 70 ceasefire violations reported in Syria in past day

Reconciliation agreements were signed during the day with representatives of 4 more settlements

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. More than 70 ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups were reported during the day in Syria, including 48 - in the province of Aleppo, 18 - in the province of Damascus, four - in the province of Hama, and one - in the province of Latakia, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said in its regular daily bulletin posted on the Russian defense ministry’s official website on Sunday.

"Armed groups which have declared their joining the regime of cessation of hostilities conducted fire from home-made multiple missile launcher systems, artillery systems, mortars and firearms at the settlements of Jobar, Bala al-Qadima, Douma, and Kafer Batna and positions of government forces near Qusayr farms and height 612 in the province of Damascus; at Aleppo’s district of Hai al-Antari; and at positions of government forces on Abu Ali mount in the province of Latakia," the bulletin sayd.

In the province of Aleppo, paramilitary terrorist groups shelled from home-made multiple missile launcher systems, mortars and firearms the settlements of Benyamin, Shurfa, al-Hader, Bakirtaya, and Aleppo’s districts of Ramusi, 1070, al-Mahsarka, Hai al-Ansari, al-Khalidiya, 3000, Hai al-Antari, a cement plant, the Castello trade center, checkpoint number one on Castello Road, checkpoint number one in Bustan al-Basha district, checkpoints number five and six in the Sheikh Hader district, checkpoint number eight near the settlement of Bakitriya and a motorway section near the settlement of Aradu Zeitun.

"In the province of Damascus, terrorists shelled the settlements of Hawsh-Nasri, Jobar, the Ibn al-Walid hospital, the Al-Wafidin camp in the settlement of Mazraat Mahmoud, a medical service school in the settlement of Harasta, a sports ground and an electricity plant in the settlement of Jobar, and positions of government forces near the settlements of Jobar and Douma," the Russian center said.

In the province of Hama, terrorists shelled a railway station in the settlement of Kawkab and a heat plant in the settlement of Maharda.

No air strikes were delivered by the Russian air group and the Syrian air force at armed opposition group which have declared cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian or U.S. reconciliation centers about their locations, as follows from the bulletin.

The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeimim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.

Reconciliation agreements were signed during the day with representatives of 4 more settlements in Syria, including three - in the province of Latakia, and one - in the province of Damascus.

"The number of settlements joining the reconciliation process has reached 840. Talks on joining the regime of cessation of hostilities were continued with field commanders of armed opposition groups in the settlement of Muaddamiet al-Shih in the province of Damascus and commanders of armed opposition groups in the provinces of Homs, Aleppo and al-Quneitra," the center said.

The number illegal armed groups that declared their commitment to the ceasefire terms remains unchanged - 69, as follows from the bulletin.

According to the Russian center, efforts are continued to relieve the humanitarian situation in Syria.

Hot meals and living essentials distribution outlets are still open for civilians leaving Aleppo’s neighborhoods controlled by illegal armed groups, the bulletin says.
