BAKU, August 8. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has noted progress in all spheres of Russian-Iranian relations.

At the meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Putin remembered the warm reception during his visit to Tehran.

"Over this time we have made a considerable progress in developing bilateral relations, our friendly relations are strengthening, and they are of multi-faceted nature. This concerns economic relations, this concerns political contacts in all directions, this also concerns he humanitarian sphere," Putin said.

"We should be thankful to Azerbaijan’s President, Mr (Ilham) Aliyev, for organizing this meeting which gives us an opportunity to discuss the situation in the region in the three-party format," the Russian leader noted.

Rouhani said in turn that he is glad to talk with the Russian leader.

"Your visit to Tehran was very effective for development of our relations. We will never forget the positive role that Russia played in achieving an agreement on (Tehran’s) nuclear program and will never forget your personal role in the implementation of this agreement," the Iranian president stressed.

"I am very happy to see growing trade turnover and developing bilateral relations. Today is a good opportunity for the leaders of Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan to meet and hold trilateral consultations. We can play an important role in strengthening three-party relations, as well as in strengthening stability and security of our region," he noted.
