More than 160 polling stations for United Russia primaries open in Khabarovsk Territory

KHABAROVSK, May 22. /TASS/. More than 160 polling stations for the primaries of the United Russia opened in Khabarovsk Territory in Russia’s Far East on Sunday.

According to spokesperson of the regional branch of the United Russia Elena Voitsekhovskaya, not only residents of the regional center and nearby areas but also residents of remote areas have an opportunity to express their opinion on the candidates.

"Exactly at 8:00 am (1:00 MSK) in the morning 168 counting stations opened in all the areas, they will be open for residents of all municipal districts of the region until 20:00 (13:00 MSK). The stationed are open not only in Khabarovsk and central areas of the province, but also in northernmost and sparsely populated areas such as Okhotsk and Ayano-Maisky districts. First local residents have already cast their votes, although there are not many of them," she said.

Voters of Khabarovsk Territory can make a choice from 24 candidates.

The essence of early voting is that everyone - a member of the United Russia, or an independent candidate takes part in the open rating vote and during that procedure receives evaluation from ordinary voters.

The United Russia finds it an effective way of selecting the strongest candidates, public opinion leaders who could take part in the elections to the State Duma, securing it a good result. In other words, the party consults with citizens in making its choice.
