ST. PETERSBURG, January 29 /TASS/. Finland is holding no official discussions and has made no decisions on joining NATO, Russia’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov said on Friday.
"As far as I know, there have been no official debates [on Finland’s accession to NATO]. A public discussion is under way [in Finland]," Titov told journalists. "We know that some kind of reports are in the making for future discussions. But no decisions on the matter have been made. There have even been some statements that the incumbent government will not pass any decisions on this subject," Titov said.
He admitted that a media reports that Finland has started an official discussion of prospects of NATO membership was new to him.
