MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. It makes no sense to expect that relations between Moscow and Washington will improve under the current US administration, led by President Joe Biden, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov told Channel One.

"Improvement of Russian-US relations seems to be impossible in the near future. What the current administration is focused on is how to stay in the Oval Office of the White House. They will not review their Russian policy, because it will make it look like this policy had failed," he said.

The ambassador added that he was expected a senator or a congressman to pay a condolence visit the Russian embassy and convey a message of support and grief, but "nothing like this happened."

"There was no phone call, no condolence visit," he said. "The department of state sent a minor official, who is not a foreign policy decision-maker."
