Russian senate speaker slams Ukrainian army’s attacks on civilians as inhumane

Valentina Matviyenko noted that she "would like to make a deep bow" before the residents of Russia’s borderline Belgorod Region and say a huge thank you for their courage and valor

MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army’s inhumane attacks on Russian cities and civilians, which are being coordinated by the UK, the US and NATO, will be duly assessed and those responsible will be punished, Federation Council (upper house of parliament, or "senate") Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said.

"The inhumane deliberate attacks on civilians, civilian facilities and peaceful cities that the Ukrainian armed forces are carrying out are war crimes. We know that these attacks are being coordinated by the United Kingdom, the United States and NATO. They will undoubtedly be duly assessed and punished," the Federation Council speaker pointed out.

Matviyenko added that she "would like to make a deep bow" before the residents of Russia’s borderline Belgorod Region and say a huge thank you for their courage and valor. "They are neither intimidated nor scared; they have been holding on for so long. They came to cast their ballots [in Russia’s recent presidential election] and express their position. Such unity of people is where our strength lies," the politician noted.

In addition, she praised the activities of the Belgorod Region’s governor and administration.
