MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. Russia’s telecommunication watchdog has exposed attacks on the infrastructure of the Russian presidential election from Germany, Britain, the United States and other countries.
As the watchdog specified, the center for the monitoring and administration of the public communications network during the period of the Russian presidential election identified about 500 cyberattacks on the information and communication infrastructure.
"The main countries where the attacks came from were Germany, Britain, the United States, Finland and Lithuania," the watchdog said.
According to the agency, the main thrust of DDoS attacks was against the resources of the CEC and the Moscow-based remote electronic voting platform. The attacks were carried out simultaneously on all resources of the election infrastructure.
The Russian presidential election was held from March 15 to 17. For the first time, it lasted three days, with remote electronic voting available as an option of casting one’s ballot in about a third of the country's regions.
