MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s year-end recap showed once again that Russia has weathered the latest challenges, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said at a news conference.

"The results of the year were recently drawn by Russian President Vladimir Putin. They are convincing and positive. And they show once again that Russia is a powerful sovereign state and that Russia has not only coped with all the latest challenges, but that it has been confidently developing while remaining a leader in building a new, more just world order," the senate speaker emphasized.

Matviyenko also lauded her fellow lawmakers for doing their job conscientiously and professionally in the outgoing year.
