Anglo-Saxons are trying to restart civil war in Afghanistan — Russian diplomat

The Taliban movement launched a large-scale operation to establish control of Afghanistan after the US in the spring of 2021 announced the decision to withdraw its armed forces from the country

MOSCOW, June 14. /TASS/. The United States and Britain are trying to restart an ethnic civil war in Afghanistan by providing support for resistance, Russia’s special presidential envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, said on the TV Channel One.

"In retaliation for their defeat in Afghanistan, the Anglo-Saxons are trying to restart a purely ethnic civil war in Afghanistan. They provide material, moral and information support for the Tajik resistance with the aim of persuading it to start another war. This is precisely what we are opposed to," said Kabulov, the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second Asian Department.

The Taliban movement (banned in Russia - TASS) launched a large-scale operation to establish control of Afghanistan after the US in the spring of 2021 announced the decision to withdraw its armed forces from the country. On August 15, the Taliban entered Kabul without encountering any resistance. Some Afghan politicians who disagreed with this organized resistance in the northern provinces under the leadership of Ahmad Masud, son and successor of field commander Ahmad Shah Massoud (1953-2001) of Tajik origin.
