BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, February 19. /TASS/. Russian Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko will meet with Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on Tuesday.

"The leaders of our countries have established very trustworthy and respectful relationship. I have a request to pass a message from the Russian president to His Majesty, which I will gladly do," Matviyenko said during a meeting with Brunei's Legislative Council Speaker Abdul Rahman Taib.

She noted that Russia considers Brunei to be a friendly country and important partner in the Asia Pacific. "We are very happy that the relations between our countries are gradually developing," she added.

Russia welcomes Brunei's balanced and unbiased approaches to pressing regional and international problems, Matviyenko said. "The unchanging resolve to facilitate the formation of the just and safe word order is in line with Russia's approaches and main foreign policy priorities," she noted adding that this opens many possibilities for bilateral cooperation in the UN and on other international platforms.
