UK showing intent to raise tensions by sending military personnel to Ukraine, Moscow warns

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova referred to such actions as "totally unacceptable"

MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. London is demonstrating an intent to support tensions in Ukraine, particularly in Donbass, by sending British military personnel to the country, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.

"We noticed the reports of British media about sending to Ukraine troops from the UK Army's 77 Brigade, which focuses on carrying out special operations in the Internet, as well as pushback using psychological and information means, as one of its main tasks. Such reports show that London continues sticking to a provocative line on destabilizing the situation in Ukraine and, of course, can be considered as a direct attempt to trigger a fresh military strain in Donbass, as well as derail the peaceful settlement process," she said.

Zakharova referred to such actions as "totally unacceptable."

The defense ministries of the United Kingdom and Ukraine agreed earlier to expand military and technical cooperation, back the development of military infrastructure, improve the quality of military education in Ukraine with the help of British experts, as well as continue dialogue between the defense departments, beef up collaboration in the area of cyber-security and protection against hybrid threats, and strengthen the UK military presence in Ukraine.
