MOSCOW, August 9. /TASS/. About one million Syrian refugees could return home in the coming months, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters at a press briefing on Thursday.
"According to UN data, about one million [people] could return to Syria in the coming months, to be more precise, 890,000 refugees," the diplomat noted.
She recalled that "the Syrian government decided to set up a special coordination committee led by the public administration and environment minister, who said that more than three million internally displaced persons had returned to their homes."
She mentioned the Syrian cities of al-Rastan and Talbiseh in the Homs Governorate as an example. In particular, the al-Rastan administration reported that about 1,500 local residents returned there over the past three months since the city was liberated from terrorists. Meanwhile, the population of the neighboring city of Talbiseh has grown from 5,000 to 12,000 in the same period of time because of civilians who returned to their homes.".
