The Russian leader said that commenting on the problem of trust in relations between Moscow and Washington

HELSINKI, July 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin recommended the US should build the relations with Russia on the basis of the two countries’ interests rather than blind trusting.

"Should you or should you not have trust in someone?" he asked the reporters at a news conference commenting on the problem of trust in relations between Moscow and Washington.

"Can you trust anyone in general?" Putin asked. "No you can’t."

"Why on Earth do you think the President [Donald Trump] trusts me and I fully trust him, too?" he said.

"Donald Trump defends the interests of the US and I defend Russia’s interests," Putin said. "We have some common interests and points of contact. Along with it, we have the issues on which we still differ and we’re looking for ways of bridging these differences and making our efforts fruitful."
