Russian special envoy to help promote cooperation with Moldova - Putin

"I hope that Kozak - with his expertise - will be capable of promoting our cooperation substantially," Putin told Dodon

MOSCOW, July 13. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, acting in the capacity of a presidential special envoy, will be able to make headway toward boosting cooperation of Moscow and Chisinau, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at his meeting with Moldovan counterpart Igor Dodon in the Kremlin on Saturday.

"I hope that he [Kozak] - with his expertise - will be capable of promoting our cooperation substantially," Putin told Dodon.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who was earlier in the month appointed as the Russian presidential special representative for developing trade and economic relations with Moldova, took part in the talks along with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov.

Greeting Dodon in the Kremlin, Putin mentioned that their meetings had become regular.

"We closely watch how the situation is unfolding in our neighboring [countries], including Moldova," he said. "We can see those efforts you have made to get the Russian-Moldovan relations back to normal. We will be doing our best to help you."

In the meantime, Dodon thanked Putin for the appointment of Dmitry Kozak as a new Russian presidential envoy for Moldova, pointing out that Kozak "has gained considerable expertise in that sector."

"I hope we will meet in a span of a few days to discuss all the issues in detail," the Moldovan president said.
