MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China on April 23-24, the Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
"He will hold talks with Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing, and a meeting with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping is planned," the statement said.
The meetings will focus on the milestone in political relations between the two countries of this year - the upcoming visit of Russian President to the country, which is expected to be coupled with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Qingdao in June. Heads of ministries will also share views on the current state and prospects of strategic collaboration.
The ministers will discuss issues of bilateral cooperation regarding global affairs and most pressing regional topics, including the Korean issue, Syrian settlement, the state of affairs in Afghanistan, the problem of multilateral agreement on the Iranian nuclear program to be maintained, cooperation between Russia and China within the UN, SCO and BRICS.
"The Chinese partners and we (Russia) share the understanding of necessity to improve the efficiency of orchestrated efforts to face global and regional challenges, including fighting terrorism and ensuring sustainable growth," Russia’s Foreign Ministry said.
The cooperation between Moscow and Beijing in the EAEU and One Belt, One Road projects is considered to be "the background for promotion of integration processes across the Eurasian space and establishment of the Big Eurasian partnership as a common development area based on equality, transparency and mutual respect for interests," the ministry noted.
