LONDON, February 26. /TASS/. Singer Ed Sheeran has won British Album of the Year at 2015 BRIT Awards held at the O2 Arena in London on Wednesday.

Sheeran’s "X" album left behind Sam Smith’s "In The Lonely Hour", George Ezra’s "Wanted On Voyage", Alt-J’s "This Is All Yours" and Royal Blood’s self-titled album.

Last year, indie rock band Arctic Monkeys won British Album of the Year with their "AM".

Sheeran also won British Male Solo Artist.

BRIT Awards was established by the British Phonographic Industry in 1977. The event that is held annually and features predominantly British artists is considered to be a UK analogue of US Grammy Award.
