Vladimir Urin to head the artistic council of the Bolshoi Theatre’s ballet troupe

The initiative came from the ballet troupe’s artistic director Sergei Filin

MOSCOW, January 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre has reorganized the artistic council of its ballet troupe, the theatre reported on its website on Monday.

The initiative came from the ballet troupe’s artistic director Sergei Filin who had asked Bolshoi’s Director Vladimir Urin to expand the ballet’s artistic council.

“The council will now include all the ballet teachers employed by the theatre (21 people) and will be chaired by Vladimir Urin with Sergei Filin and Boris Akimov being his deputies,” the website goes on to say.

The changes have been prompted by the need to make the council fully functional. It is a consultative body, which is going to meet three times a year to discuss long-term plans, new productions and questions linked to the current repertoire and the formation of the ballet troupe. Boris Akimov used to head the artistic council of the Bolshoi Theatre’s ballet troupe before.
