Russia urges to toughly rebuff jihadists in Iraq, Syria - RF Foreign Ministry

A total of 6 people there killed in the attack and more than 60 were injured

MOSCOW, September 30 (Itar-Tass) - The attempts by jihadists to achieve their goals in Iraq, Syria and other countries in the region with the help of terror acts “should be toughly rebuffed,” Russia’s Foreign Ministry stated on Monday, commenting on the recent series of explosions in the Kurdish autonomous region of Iraq. A total of 6 people there killed in the attack and more than 60 were injured.

“Russia strongly condemns the terrorist attacks, the responsibility for which has been claimed by a group affiliated with Al Qaeda,” stated the RF Foreign Ministry. “We reaffirm our solidarity with the leadership of Iraq and the Kurdish autonomous region in the decisive and uncompromising opposition to the terrorists.”

Moscow, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted, “with the most serious concern” has taken the acts of violence and crimes committed by terrorists in different parts of Iraq, including in the Kurdish autonomous area now. “The attempts by jihadists to achieve its goals in Iraq, Syria and other countries in the region through staging murderous acts against the government agencies and civilians should be toughly rebuffed,” the ministry stated. “And a lasting solution to the pressing problems and contradictions for all states in the Middle East lies in the sphere of a broad national dialogue and finding consensus agreements.”
