WASHINGTON, September 5 (Itar-Tass) - Delegation of Russian MPs plans holding meetings with U.S. congressmen and senators in Washington next week, a source at the Russian Embassy here told Itar-Tass.

“The visit is in the phase of planning and a discussion of details of the agenda is currently underway,” he said, adding that the delegation will most likely include members of both houses of Russia’s Federal Assembly - the State Duma /the lower house/ and the Federation Council /the upper house/.

Russian diplomats in Washington indicate that the situation in and around Syria will be topic number one at the forthcoming discussions.

In the meantime, John Boehner, a Conservative from Ohio who is holding the post of speaker in the House of Representatives has already refused to hold meetings with Russian MPs. His secretary, Michael Steel told reporters the speaker, who is person number three in Washington’s political and state hierarchy, had turned down a request from the Russian Embassy to meet with the Russian delegation members.
