Russian, Iranian leaders condemn use of chemical weapons by any party

Putin and Rouhani paid special attention to the situation in Syria

MOSCOW, August 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani spoke against the use of chemical weapons by any party.

During the telephone conversation initiated by the Iranian leader, Putin and Rouhani paid special attention to the situation in Syria and around it.

Given the calls for an external armed intervention in Syria, they stressed the need to look for ways to settle the crisis by political and diplomatic methods, the presidential press service said.

The two presidents also discussed some aspects of cooperation between their countries and the schedule of upcoming contacts.
