MOSCOW, January 1. /TASS/. At least 13 people were injured when a wooden bridge collapsed at a skating rink in Moscow’s landmark Gorky Park, the Moscow Mayor’s office said on its website on Tuesday.
"13 people sought medical assistance, they are receiving the necessary treatment. No serous injuries were reported," the statement reads.
The collapse affected the area of several square meters, which has been cordoned off. The rest of the territory remains open for New Year revelers.
A source in the Russian capital’s healthcare department said the victims were diagnosed with moderate and light wounds, and their lives were out of danger.
"A sufficient number of medical workers was deployed at the site of the accident in Gorky Park. Minutes after the accident, doctors started treating everyone who sought assistance. As a result, 13 people were injured, none of them seriously. Their condition is estimated as satisfactory and moderate. No life-threatening injuries were reported. Medical assistance is being provided in full," the source said.
Ambulance teams are still on duty on the site of the accident, and are ready to render assistance if required.
