Plane hits runway with tail on takeoff in Russia's Ufa — source

MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. A Ural Airlines plane en route from Ufa to Nizhnevartovsk (Khanty-Mansiysk Region) hit the runway with the tail on takeoff, but continued the flight and then conducted unscheduled landing in Yekaterinburg, an emergency source told TASS on Friday.

Dents were left on the plane, but "the covering was not broken," the source said. "According to preliminary information, no one was injured," he said. "Airbus A321 hit the runway [with the tail] on takeoff in Ufa. The captain decided to conduct unscheduled landing in Yekaterinburg, which was successful. Technical experts are examining the aircraft now," the source said.

The carrier’s press service confirmed the information about the incident. A reserve plane will be provided for a flight to Nizhnevartovsk from Yekaterinburg.

"The scheduled departure is at 9:00 Moscow time. During the waiting time the passengers (165 people) will be provided all the prescribed services in accordance with the federal aviation rules," Ural Airlines reported.
