Most bomb hoaxes across Russia come from Ukraine, interior ministry says

Earlier it was reported that multiple bomb threat calls in Moscow malls were reportedly made from the numbers registered in Ukraine

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Most hoax bomb calls across Russia are made from Ukraine, Deputy Interior Minister Igor Zubov told reporters on Friday.

"A huge number of bomb hoaxes (across Russia) does come from Ukraine. We can say that there is a system led by specific forces in Ukraine aimed to constantly train us as far as public safety goes," he stated.

Anonymous phone calls about bomb alerts at railway stations and shopping centers started to hit Moscow in late November, prompting evacuation. According to preliminary data, the attacks had been classified as hooligan actions.

Russia saw a wave of fake bomb scares earlier, namely in September-December 2017. At the time, nearly 4,000 facilities were attacked by telephone terrorists with over 2.6 million people in various Russian cities having been evacuated.
