St. Petersburg police detain man who threw wreaths into eternal flame

The issue of launching a criminal case is currently pending

ST. PETERSBURG, August 8. /TASS/. St. Petersburg police have detained a man who had been throwing flowers and wreaths into an eternal flame in the Field of Mars (Marsovo Pole) park under the influence, and the decision whether to launch a criminal case is pending, the press service of the regional directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry reported on Wednesday.

"In the evening of August 7, 2018, the police received a witness report about an unidentified citizen who was picking flowers and wreaths in the Field of Mars and throwing them into the Eternal Flame. <...> The issue of launching a criminal case is currently pending," the directorate said in the statement. A protocol under the section "Disorderly Conduct" was prepared for the 36-year-dold man, according to the statement.
