Rosneft starts drilling exploration well on Black Sea shelf — CEO

The resource base of the Zapadno-Chernomorsky Area is provisionally estimated at 600 mln tonnes of oil and 100 bln cubic meters of gas

SOCHI, December 18. /TASS/. Rosneft initiated drilling of a deep-water exploration well on the Black Sea shelf, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian oil major Igor Sechin told reporters on Monday.

"[We] initiated physical drilling of the deep-water well on the Zapadno-Chernomorsky Area of the Black Sea shelf in these days," Sechin said.

The resource base of the Zapadno-Chernomorsky Area where well drilling started is provisionally estimated at 600 mln tonnes of oil and 100 bln cubic meters of gas, Sechin said. The estimate can be revised upward later on, the top manager added.
