Kaspersky Lab eyes stronger presence on Indian market

Earlier this month, Kaspersky Lab announced that it will close its office in Washington that dealt with sales of solutions for US government authorities

NEW DELHI, December 14. /TASS/. Russian antivirus solutions provider Kaspersky Lab intends to intensify its activities in India, head and co-founder of the company Eugeny Kaspersky said speaking at the Russian Embassy in New Delhi on Thursday.

"Despite the fact that we have been present in India for a long time, and we have a significant share in the Indian market, I still regard this region as unfinished from our part. In Asia, there is inhomogeneity in our presence - it is stronger in some regions and it weaker in others," Kaspersky said.

"We see a huge interest in our products here, especially in the wake of the increasing number of targeted very professional cyberattacks on the industrial sector, more and more incidents in the banking sector. In fact there are not so many companies in the field of cybersecurity that are able to provide the necessary expertise in the field of cyber defense," he added.

Earlier this month, Kaspersky Lab announced that it will close its office in Washington that dealt with sales of solutions for US government authorities. This office has been operational since 2014.

The company decided to close the office after the US Department of Homeland Security announced that Kaspersky Lab products threatened the country’s national security and urged US government agencies to abandon its products.

Kaspersky Lab also issued a statement saying that the ban on the use of its products in the US federal agencies damages the company’s business and businesses of its partners.
