Moscow to push ahead with efforts to preserve peace, stability in Arctic — Lavrov

Russia will continue, together with the rest of the Arctic states, to respond to various challenges in the Arctic in a timely manner, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Russia is interested in preserving peace and stability in the Arctic region and will continue working with other countries on maintaining them and respond to the challenges emerging in the region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in his message of greetings to the participants in the 7th international forum titled "The Arctic: Present and Future" posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website on Monday.

"Russia, which is interested in maintaining peace and stability in the region, will continue, together with the rest of the Arctic states, to respond to various challenges in the Arctic in a timely manner and seek new opportunities for stepping up cooperation," Russia’s top diplomat noted.

Lavrov added that the forum had become a reputable platform for discussing issues related to the Arctic region. "I am confident that the results of the forum will contribute to the further development of Arctic territories, the promotion of broad international cooperation, including for the benefit of improving the quality of life of the peoples in the Far North," he stressed.
