Uber ready to cooperate with Russian regulator on user data leaks

It was reported earlier that hackers became aware of names, email addresses and telephones of 57 mln clients and drivers of Uber as a result of the cyber-attack in 2016

MOSCOW, November 24. /TASS/. The Russian representative office of US-based Uber is ready to cooperate with Russian communications watchdog Roskomnadzor in respect of the hacker attack in 2016 resulting in online taxi service users’ data leakage, press service of Uber told TASS.

"As soon as we receive an inquiry, we will respond in due time. We are ready to cooperate with regulators," the press service of Uber said.

Roskomnadzor sent a request to the representative office of Uber whether Russians were affected by the hacker attack in 2016. No complaints against Uber were received from Russian citizens so far.

It was reported earlier that hackers became aware of names, email addresses and telephones of 57 mln clients and drivers of Uber as a result of the cyber-attack in 2016. The incident surfaced only this week.

Uber plans to discuss the situation with hackers’ access to user data with various government agencies, press service of the company told TASS earlier.
