Iran and Russia to expand cooperation through regional projects — lawmaker

Each Russian region has an investment portfolio that can be offered to Iran, a parliament member said

TEHRAN, March 6. /TASS/. Implementation of regional projects is an important area of the Russian-Iranian economic cooperation, member of International Affairs Committee of Russia’s Federation Council Igor Morozov told TASS on Monday.

"The Federation Council is the chamber of regions. We represent all Russian regions and therefore the friendship group established within the framework of the Federation Council and the Majlis (the parliament of Iran) has a task to stir up interregional cooperation. It means the South-North transport corridor to be provided with a specific content should be filled with regional projects," Morozov said.

Each Russian region has an investment portfolio that can be offered to Iran, the parliament member said. "The most promising for small and medium enterprises are projects related to regional energy resources, construction of small timber enterprises and production of gas tanks the transport in Russian regions starts using," Morozov said.

Many other projects can be identified and develop in Iran and in Russia, he added.
