Transit of Russian gas to Europe via Ukraine up 52% in January — pipeline operator

In January 2016, 6.4 bln cubic meters of natural gas was piped through local gas transportation system for consumers in Europe and Moldova

KIEV, February 3. /TASS/. Transit of Russian gas to the European Union (EU) and Moldova via Ukrainian territory more than doubled in January compared with the same period last year, Ukraine's gas pipeline operator Ukrtransgaz reported on Wednesday.

In January 2016, 6.4 bln cubic meters of natural gas was piped through local gas transportation system for consumers in Europe and Moldova, which is a 52% increase compared with the same period last year," the company said.

"As of today’s morning 191 mln cubic meters of gas is piped daily to European consumers," the report said.
