ASHGABAT, January 28. /TASS/. Establishing a transport transit corridor with Russia has big potential, Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said on Thursday at the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Berdimuhamedow reminded that the project was proposed earlier to create a transport transit corridor between the two countries. "We already have ferry service. We also repair our ships in the Astrakhan Region," the president said.

The Turkmen leader also noted that last year’s session of the inter-governmental commission led to considerable increase in trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan. Berdimuhamedow noted successful cooperation in such spheres as textile industry, construction, agriculture and in the oil sector.

"We call on Russian companies to develop transport infrastructure," he stressed.
