Kyrgyzstan builds 400-km power transmission line linking north and south

The country’s southern regions were earlier getting electricity from neighboring Uzbekistan

BISHKEK, August 26. /TASS/. Kyrgyzstan has completed the construction of a 405-kilometer power transmission line connecting the southern and northern regions of the republic, a spokesman for the Kyrgyz Energy Ministry told TASS on Wednesday.

The unique transmission line crossing Kyrgyzstan’s remote mountainous areas "will ensure the republic’s power safety," the spokesman said adding that the country’s southern regions were earlier getting electricity from neighboring Uzbekistan.

The launch ceremony of the $389 million power transmission line is scheduled for August 28.
