RIO DE JANEIRO, April 14. /TASS/. Share of the Latin American region in Russia’s portfolio of orders for supplies of defense-related products will increase, Director of the Russian Federal Service of Military-Technical Cooperation Alexander Fomin told Tass at the opening of the LAAD-2015 Defense and Security International Exhibition on Tuesday.

"I am confident that the share of this region [in the structure of Russia’s defense orders] will go up," Fomin said. He pointed to the high level of competitiveness on the Latin American market of weapons. "We are not the first country and not the only supplier to this market. There is high level of competitiveness on the market. But our products are rather competitive," the head of the federal service said.

He pointed to the significance of developing military-technical cooperation with the countries of the region. "It is of great importance for us to have got contacts with Latin America, including those in the sphere of defense, military and technical cooperation," Fomin said.
