ST. PETERSBURG, May 23. /ITAR-TASS/. US ExxonMobil will keep its stake in oil and gas project Sakhalin-1 on Russia’s shelf, Alexander Khoroshavin, Governor of the Sakhalin Region, said Friday at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
An official at the regional government anonymously told ITAR-TASS earlier in May that Exxon was discussing selling its stake to the Sakhalin Region government if the US extends its sanctions against Moscow.
