CBR’s currency interventions have amounted to 64.27 billion rubles (around $1.83 billion) on January 30. This was the maximum amount of currency interventions since September 2011.
On January 31, the cost of the bi-currency basket made of €0.45 and $0.55 went up 12 kopecks to 40.72 rubles. Thus, the cost of the bi-currency basket remained within the currency band with its limits set within a range of 34.25-41.25 rubles in the course of the day. This factor allowed the CBR to reduce currency interventions as compared with the previous day.
