Eurasian Economic Union interested in expansion of cooperation with SCO

An agreement on trade and economic cooperation has been concluded between EAEU and the People’s Republic of China, Bakytzhan Sagintayev noted

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states are interested in expansion of cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Bakytzhan Sagintayev said.

"Expansion of cooperation with SCO is an important area for us. The institutional basis for cooperation between EAEU and SCO has been created by now, a memorandum has been signed, the work on approval of the draft of plan of action for 2024-2025 on the implementation of the memorandum is nearing completion, a systemic dialogue has been established between regulating bodies. International cooperation between SCO member states is being built not only in the dialogue format, but also in the format of trade agreements," he said at a plenary meeting of the International economic forum of CIS member states.

An agreement on trade and economic cooperation has been concluded between EAEU and the People’s Republic of China, the official noted, adding that in accordance with the agreement a joint commission has been set up, with a wide range of issues discussed at its meetings.

The Eurasian Economic Union is consistently building infrastructure for the dialogue with key players of the Big Eurasia, Sagintayev said. "The development of a systemic dialogue with SCO, ASEAN, BRICS nations, as well as other interested states and integrations, in the context of the big Eurasian partnership is one of the priorities of the Union’s international activities," he concluded.
