Volumes of Russian oil supplies to Czech Republic maintained, to Slovakia down 10%

CEO of Transneft Nikolay Tokarev also noted that Hungary received almost 5 mln tons in 2022, while this year supplies slipped by 2% compared with 2022

MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. Purchases of Russian oil by the Czech Republic remained at last year’s level in 2023, while supplies to Slovakia and Hungary fell by 10% and 2%, respectively, Chief Executive Officer of Transneft Nikolay Tokarev said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel, adding that requests for next year will remain intact.

Last year the Czech Republic received 4.2 mln tons of Russian oil (up by 24% compared with 2021), with the same volume of 4.2 mln tons received this year, he said. Slovakia received 5.25 mln tons of Russian oil in 2022, same as in 2021, while in 2023 supplies went down by 10%, CEO said, adding that Hungary received almost 5 mln tons in 2022 (up by 44% compared with 2021), while this year supplies slipped by 2% compared with 2022.

"So all those volumes remained and they are expected to remain in 2023. And, of course, requests for next year will be roughly similar as both the Czech Republic and Slovakia have applied to Brussels with a request to keep those volumes of Russian oil supplies," he noted.
